'Showing you the Real Britain'

TOURS

A welcome from michael

Welcome to Unique Tours of Britain. I am Michael Osborne. I studied Mediaeval and Modern History at London University where I achieved a B.A. Honours degree. I operate historical chauffeur-driven tours across England, Wales and Scotland.

Far from the madding crowds and coachloads of tourists, I will take you down winding country lanes to explore what I like to call the real Britain, from day trips visiting quaint village pubs, churches and romantic castles to residential tours exploring smugglers' haunts or Yorkshire.

All my exclusive tours are for up to six people by luxury MPV, and accommodation on residential tours is in private period homes or beautiful, historic hotels.

Looking for a bespoke Unique Tour of Britain? I can also tailor specialist residential trips based on your personal preferences

Day Tours

Do you have a day's layover and want to be inspired by the hidden gems of South-East England?

Sit back, relax and let your history expert guide Michael whisk you away from the tourist traps to discover the idyllic English countryside, starting from Gatwick Airport. From unique landscapes and Tudor cottages to mediaeval pubs and royal castles, Michael will show you the surprising secrets and curiosities of Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

Unique Tours of Britain day tours are available for one to six people in a luxury MPV. All clients are collected from Gatwick Airport around 9am and returned to their hotel, address or Gatwick Airport train station by 5pm, which allows a full eight-hour day's sightseeing.

Clients arriving from central London are advised to take the Gatwick Express train, which leaves every 15 minutes from Victoria station and takes 30 minutes to reach Gatwick Airport.

The cost of a day tour is 390 GB Pounds, payable on the day, which covers one to three persons. For four to six persons, the cost will be 490 GB Pounds (these prices are per car, NOT per person)

Residential Tours

For clients wanting to more fully explore the UK's history, and perhaps even their own, try Unique Tours of Britain's all-inclusive 7 or 10-day residential experience.

You can either choose from a menu of 12 pre-planned tours crafted on individual themes or request your very own bespoke historic tour based on your personal interests.

On each unique themed residential tour, Michael will immerse you in the wonders of Britain's heritage based on your chosen subject, from classic literature to the Scottish Highlands. Places you will visit and accommodation you will stay at, will fit your chosen theme, from castles and Victorian mansions to windmills and lighthouses.

If you would like a bespoke tour not listed, Michael can work with you to tailor an itinerary that meets your requirements.

For residential tours only, we offer a door-to-door service, collecting and returning you to anywhere in England.

Residential tours cost 390 GB Pounds per person per day (including accommodation). A maximum of six people per tour, which is secured by a 20% deposit.

TESTIMONIAL

"Michael Osborne is at the top of our list for experiencing the best of Britain. He has given us the real insight to this wonderful part of the world. We have traveled with him numerous times through England, Scotland, and Wales, including the best parts of the Cotswolds, Yorkshire, the Lake District, the Inner Hebrides, Cornwall, and the lovely, uncrowded countryside of Wales. Michael is an expert in both British and American history and is eager to share his knowledge.

Michael always finds the most interesting lodgings for us to experience. These have included manor houses, historic pubs, Sir Walter Raleigh’s birthplace, an oast house, and a working mill.

Since there are only the two of us, we have always traveled in comfortable motor cars and have been able to get on back roads where motor coaches would never be able to go. Sometimes we’ve run across unexpected sights such as sheep dog trials, Gypsy caravans and cart races, and even had dinner next to a table where a member of the Royal Family was eating. We never would have known it without Michael.

We are looking forward to our next adventure with Michael and would not hesitate to recommend his Unique Tours of Britain to anyone who would like to see that part of the world from the inside out."
